Well we tried to move fast but we got a late start And it was twenty-five past when we got in the car And by the time we arrived at your place it was dark I thought I might've been a Neal but I'm a Jack at heart It's been a couple of years and a couple of days I shed a couple of tears when we last parted ways But I've been making a name for myself, anyway I thought we might've had a deal but you don't ever pay I thought I might've been a Neal but I'm a runaway You think you get away with murder just because Cause no one ever told you no one ever does And now you're trying to find a fortune in a pile of stones Now you're counting out the rhythm that you got in your bones I've been brushing my teeth with a bottle of Jack And you've been running around and causing heart attacks And when you told me you wondered if I'm coming back I thought it might've been for real but I know better than that I thought I might've been a Neal but I'm a Kerouac You think you get away with murder just because Cause no one ever told you no one ever does And now you're trying to find a fortune in a pile of stones Now you're counting out the rhythm that you got in your bones

I wish I could be the one to ease your pain I'd lift off all your expectations And take back all of your mistakes I could quit your boring job for you Tell you to come away with me We'd set off on the road together And live out all of your dreams And we'd never be the same And we'd change our names And start new lives In a different state But you know that it'll never be like that Cause this is where you'll stay And I have always had your back Buried in my blade I will only let you down I will only run away I hope your revelation comes I hope you step into the sun I hope you walk across the sand And finally understand I hope we meet again someday I hope you're seeing someone great I hope you're seeing better days Since you let me run away

You dug yourself a hole so deep You think the only way to get out Is straight down Everybody's creeping you out Everybody's taking it out on you You gave all of your love away To someone you weren't certain about So you backed out He didn't even notice the sound He didn't even notice the clouds of doubt And it's easy to see how plans get made People get beat up and betrayed It's easy to see how love decays into a fistfight And it's all because of something you did years ago Well I can't believe that's so I was in the car with you Yeah you were there, and I was too I saw everything you didn't do I saw it all I will come to rescue you And tell you what is best for you And tell you that this is not your fault It is not your fault.

Casablanca 2 04:14
I knew a girl in ninth grade She had a lot on her plate Sports and music and clubs Raging parties and drugs That's how it was in those days I asked her out to the dance Said it was strictly as friends I was taking it slow Cause what else did I know? But she'd already made plans With some douchebag She knew from math class So I went with a band geek Who had a big crush on me She kept on talking about band But when we finally danced She had like, seven left feet I said let's get something to eat Then I snuck out to the street Some junior offered me pot And though it seemed like a lot I told him, maybe next week Too embarrassed To call my parents I started walking back home yes I did I won't make that mistake again I'm gonna tell her how I feel I ain't no superstitious man But I looked up at the stars And I swear they never lined up so straight again She'd had a pretty rough night Her date got into a fight She said he got a bit drunk And so he threw the first punch She left without a goodbye I said I wasn't surprised Cause he's just that kind of guy He doesn't care about you Or anything that you do To him, you're only a prize She shrugged her shoulders The night got colder So I pulled her in close to me We hit that upperclassman up for weed Then we hung out in the park Even though it was dark And smoked it under some trees I said, here's looking at you I guess that she'd seen Casablanca too She said, you must remember this And well a kiss is just a kiss But that's only half of the truth Cause there was nothing Absolutely nothing in this world I'd rather do.
